Yellow Roses
The Meaning of Yellow Roses:
The bright, sunny color of yellow roses evokes a feeling of warmth and happiness. The warm feelings associated with the yellow rose are often akin to those shared with a true friend. As such, the yellow rose is an ideal symbol for joy and friendship.
History:
Primary Significance: Friendship, Joy, Get Well
Yellow roses have a shorter, albeit no less fascinating, history than other roses. It wasn't until around the 18th century that yellow roses were discovered growing naturally in parts of the Middle East. Prior to this, roses in cultivation predominantly existed in various shades of pink and to a lesser extent, white. However, once the first yellow roses were introduced, their popularity quickly spread.During roughly this same time period, new rose cross-breeding and hybridization techniques were being innovated. These experiments would play an important role in the evolution of the yellow rose. One of the more compelling attributes of most roses is their sweet smelling fragrance. This was a trait that the first yellow roses did not share, and in fact, quite the opposite was true! In time however, as breeding and cultivation methods were refined, hybridizers were able to gradually phase in the more pleasing aroma that rose-lovers are accustomed to.
Also changed over the years were the meanings related to yellow roses. Throughout history, the color yellow has been closely associated with the sun. As the source of light and warmth, the sun is integral to life on Earth, and has been worshiped in many early societies. It should come as no surprise that the color of the sun would hold many positive connotations. In many Eastern cultures, for example, the color yellow represents joy, wisdom and power. However, in Europe at the time of the introduction of these roses, the color yellow carried much more negative overtones. Consequently, yellow roses were long used as a symbol for jealousy and dying love. As time went on, however, the more universal meanings connected with the color yellow have come to prevail and entwine themselves with the yellow rose. Today yellow roses are more commonly associated with joy and friendship.
A bouquet of yellow roses now brings to mind all of the sunny, cheerful feelings of warmth and happiness. In contrast to the romantic meanings attributed to other roses, the yellow rose is purely a symbol for friendship. This gives it a unique place in the pantheon of roses. Yellow roses can send the perfect message of appreciation and platonic love without the romantic subtext of other colors. They can represent feelings of joy and delight, and are an ideal way to brighten someone's day who may be feeling down. There is perhaps no other flower that is able to bring out a smile in quite the way that a yellow rose canTuesday, September 28, 2010

Santa Monica Beach
THE HOTTEST DAY IN L.A. HISTORY! 113 DEGREE FAHRENHEIT! D;
So today I went to class to find out that class was canceled today! YAY! So Judy and I decided to go to the beach! We stopped by her house first, picked up Molina, went to McDonald, and picked up Tiffany and Kelly at Union Station. After we dropped off Tiffany, we went over to Kelly's house so that she can get some stuff. After she got her stuff, I drove home to change and grab stuff and on the way we go! Except I took the wrong freeway by accident =.=
When we finally got to the beach, it felt really nice compare to being in the city! We played in the water and I finally got to write my name in the sand! Freaken Kelly kept running around looking for rocks so that she can put her initials on the sand. After playing in the water, we walked around the pier and ended up heading home around 7.
Random Night!
I went home and took a ice cold shower! It felt so nice! But I dried up so fast! D; After relaxing for a bit, I headed out to dinner with Dennis and Trinh. We ended up going to eat at Coco's at Pasadena. I had a six cheese ravioli. Zomg it was really cheesy! I couldn't even finish it! We spent about a hour just talking and catching up on stuff. Its nice not seeing people for a while sometimes because you can always have long conversations!
After dinner, I went to visit Kelly and her new car! I need to get her that "Sorry I drive too slow" sticker! Randomly, we decided to go to Cha for Tea because she was hungry and I was thirsty so what the heck?! We had a nice conversation as well. While we were there, I saw Jenna & finally met Dareel! After they left, I saw Grace too! Random?! Hah Kelly and I had a nice conversation with our waiter too! I love how people are so friendly at Cha! We just talked about all these art related stuff but what got us talking was cause I was freestlying a bit so he was like "You dance?" Kelly and I were like "I bet this guy can do a backflip!" And whatta you know?! Another dancer! And a token black guy who works at Cha! Hah After that, we were bout to leave, AND GUESS WHO WAS AT THE CASHIER? YONG CHONG. YOURE A BITCH FOR NOT TALKING TO ME ANYMORE! Nah I'm just playing! (: After I caught up with him for a bit, Kelly and I headed home. On the way home we were just singing to the radio and that was pretty much my day (:
I loved today~
So the other day, I was thinking of auditioning for 909 hip-hop at UCR. But here's the thing.. I have a midterm for Psych that day :( I was thinking maybe I can at least make it to the 2 practice try-outs and I'm pretty sure I can make it to the actual auditions. But is it worth driving 100 miles [back and forth in total] for it? The down fall is gas, mileage, and I'd have to rush there all the time. Well.. I'm not sure bout the practice schedules but just throwing that out. But what i'll get out of it is that I'd be able to dance on a team and compete like the good old days! Tempting.. Or maybe I'll go out for something here.. I JUST REALLLY GOTTA DANCE!
